When I was a kid, I had a horrible temper. So did my father. One day, when I was ten, I had a blow up and my astonished mother asked, “Where did you get this temper from?” Taking my cue, “You’re sleeping with him!” That’s basically how Americans look at the world. Like the adult children of alcoholics, making excuses for abhorrent behavior because, “Daddy is really bad without his medicine.”
What happened to Brittney Griner is tragic. That's an evil sentence. No human alive should pay such a heavy price for a mistake that harmed no one. Americans will say things like, “We don’t do that here!” However, we do that in the U.S. and the world every day and in my “micro-research,” the only people who think we “have it better” are usually white.
Gee, that’s kinda harsh, man…
Well, since roughly 45% of our inmates are non-violent, non-trafficking drug offenders, I can say that. They have not physically harmed another human in the commission of the so-called crime. At worst, they should be in rehab or counseling. Portugal does that and their crime rate plummeted. The U.S. does not do that. There’s no money in it. The average inmate makes corporate America around $70,000 a year. We may have to finally question our draconian drug laws, a Richard Nixon/Ronald Reagan/Janet Reno/Bill Clinton holdover. Since 90% of those convicted are black and brown people, toss a little systemic racism into the mix, and you have modern day slavery. God bless the 13th Amendment and the icing on the cake, being Joe Biden’s 1994 Omnibus Crime Bill. That added fifty-threeteh Children death penalty violations. I know I sleep better…

When Kamala Harris was California’s Attorney General, she had 100,000 black and brown people jailed with the above mentioned drug charges. Now, the not so great state has 40% of its Cal Fire firefighters being inmates. They get no death benefit and any permanent injuries sustained stop being cared for once they’re out. They get no pension and since they’re felons, their job prospects are bleak, despite all the training they received. This leads most back to crime and prison. Since the national recidivism rate hangs around 80%, it appears that California will have slave labor fighting fires for life.
Harris was sued by the federal government three times, for prison overcrowding. Her office finally admitted that the prison labor force would be impacted if they released inmates. I hope by now, many readers realize that this is not a Democrat vs. Republican issue. They’re all on the same page here.
I notice that since Biden took office, there are barely reports of police murders. Maybe that’s because Orange Man Bad is gone. We still have plenty. Our police kill roughly 1,500 unarmed people a year. Care to guess the average skin color? Since 2005, there have been 18,000 cases against cops by a Grand Jury or a jury trial. We’ve had five convictions, Derek Chauvin being the most prominent. We do this and whine about the Uyghurs in China? Many of whom are fighting in the Mideast for ISIS or Al-Qaeda, yet, many Americans will ignore our egregious acts overseas and hang their hat on “Boy, I wouldn’t wanna live there!” What makes here so great?
I can’t really go 2,000 words (well, I could but your eyes would bleed), so I’ll start wrapping up. The United States is the moral superior of no one. Not a one. We have no values, we steal, we murder, we jail people while bankers and oligarchs roam the earth pillaging and getting obscene bailouts and subsidies. Then we whine about a corrupt system, while admonishing others to vote for their dipshit spirit animal, lest they look at us like we punched their teddy bear. They’ll be earnest and sincere because they will have no context and are possessed of zero history. We do not care about human rights, civil rights, animal rights, only money matters. If you think we’re fighting for freedom in Ukraine, while setting the Mid-East on fire, you’re simply not a serious person.
As I said at the beginning of this, Griner in a Russian prison is an obscenity. However, I’ll lay even money she won’t be treated like she’s in a U.S. prison and she’ll probably get Chicken Kiev at dinner. Sleep tight.

Private prisons run my state and have since Pence was governor. Two of his appointed judges got caught taking bribes to send kids up to federal prison for simple pot possession. He stepped right from the governorship into the vice presidency. Pot is the cop's bread and butter. If they couldn't bust hippies the cops wouldn't know what to do all day long.
I wish the corporate news had irony detectors that electrocuted them when they spewed bullshit.
